Description
The 100% natural E-400 of NOW contains 400 IU of non-esterified d-alpha tocopherol, the antioxidant action of which enhances the health of the cardiovascular and immune systems, ligaments and skin tissue.
The synthetic form of alpha-tocopherol is not absorbed whole to the same extent. About half of it remains in the blood plasma, while the rest is excreted from the body. For this reason, the natural form D-alpha tocopherol is twice as active as the synthetic one.
The usefulness of vitamin E in all cell types is a given. It protects the membranes of blood cells, the nervous system, skeletal muscles and the retina of the eye from the negative effects of free radicals.
Research studies have shown that intense physical exercise increases the production of free radicals, so the complementary intake of vitamin E protects against the known oxidative stress caused in the body.
The E-400 formulation is enhanced with 100 micrograms of selenium. Selenium integrates with proteins to create selenoproteins, which are important antioxidant enzymes. The antioxidant properties of selenoproteins prevent cell damage caused by free radicals.
